Δp: change in frequency of an allele Selection coefficient (s): quantifies the advantage or disadvantage that one allele has over another allele, measured by whichever allele is able to successfully reproduce in individuals p: frequency of an allele q: 1 - p, the total population of the alleles minus the frequency of the p allele
